Microsoft Exec: E3 Will Have “Surprises”, Xbox One Saw Massive Increase in Game Sales Last Holiday

Gears of War 4

It’s the New Year and we already have a major delay for the Xbox One with Scalebound. Now, delays aren’t a bad thing but there’s definitely a feeling of a, well, depleted line-up for the console this year. Thankfully, as Xbox Live product manager Aaron Greenberg explained to Gamer Tag Radio, there’s still plenty to look forward to on the Xbox One.

As Greenberg has stated numerous times before, “Our focus has been on having the best games line up anywhere and we have already shared a good preview of what our line up looks like in coming year. So I think people know that we are not stopping and in many ways we are even increasing the number of great AAA games that are coming.”

Regarding the console’s performance over the Holiday season, Greenberg said, “We saw massive increase in game sales. We also saw console sales, we have seen Live engagement grow year over year. We only measure against our own yardstick of what we did the previous year and we are seeing fantastic results and growth year over year.

“As we look forward to 2016, we do have more games, we do expect to sell more games. We expect it to be a bigger year than this year and we will be sharing more about that line-up later but for us, gamers have a lot to look forward to. We shared our big titles like Gears of War 4, Halo Wars 2, ReCore and some of the other hits coming and we will talk about the line-up and some other surprises as we get later into the year.”

What does that leave for E3 2016? “We are already starting to think about it, what we are going to do there. It will ramp closer to [E3]. My team leads a lot of the planning for E3 and we are excited about it. Every year we try to make it better and this year we will bring some more surprises to the table.”

Maybe a resurrection of Silent Hills? A teaser for Halo 6? We can certainly dream but stay tuned for more updates in the future.
