Elite: Dangerous Powerplay

Frontier Developments’ Elite: Dangerous has managed to sell more than 1.4 million copies across all of its platforms. It’s currently available for PC and Xbox One and first released on the former in December 2014 through Steam Early Access. The Xbox One release came out in October 2015 and is still due for PS4.

CEO David Braben stated that, “We have an amazing player community. The average play time among our 1.4 million players is 60 hours – that’s a massive 84 million player hours and counting. With the community’s feedback, we’re constantly making Elite Dangerous better than ever. We have incredible long-term ambition and we will continue to deliver on those ambitions. We will detail more exciting developments for Horizons very soon.”

It also seems that average playtime is 60 hours for each player with 84 million hours racked up across all players. What are your thoughts on those numbers? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned for more information on the next expansion, Horizons.
