The Division Uses Dynamic Resolution Scaling On Xbox One

The Division New 1

Ever since we started seeing trailers earlier this year for The Division, there has been a lot of talk about the possibility that Ubisoft reduced the quality of the game’s graphics. The talk has only ramped up since the beta launched, mainly because people have actually been able to get their hands on the game and get a really good look at the title.

We carried out an initial report last week on the Xbox One version and claimed that it was running at a full 1080p graphics. Later on, trusted tech analysts at Digital Foundry also came up with the same assessment but it seems that the game is now running at a dynamic resolution on the Xbox One. This report comes from Digital Foundry who once again dived into the beta to check the pixel counts. They concluded that the game is actually running at a dynamic resolution and it seems to change randomly depending on the available GPU resources. This is indeed the case as the pixel count was changing randomly and it was quite difficult for us to catch it when we first counted it. Since the resolution was dynamic we only came across scenes that were being rendered in native 1080p.

It must be noted that this is a beta build and things can change in the final version. The game comes out in March so in the meantime check out our head to head graphics analysis of The Division on all platforms below.
