E3 2016 is just a week away, but looks like Square Enix have a problem with premature release (of information, get your mind out of the gutter). Earlier this week, during a community-driven Active Time Report broadcast, Final Fantasy 15 director Hajime Tabata provided quite a bit of new information about the upcoming game- and a lot of what we heard sounds pretty damn awesome.

For instance, he confirmed that the game is not a true open world in the sense that The Witcher 3 was- it’s more of a very broad field that you gain more and more access to as you progress in the series- sort of like an expanded version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, it sounds like. Which means that Square Enix should be able to maintain a sense of difficulty scaling and progression design to the game. Speaking of which, Square Enix also confirmed that in spite of the game’s action RPG trappings, it isn’t unforgiving like an action game- the game is designed so that the player gets more comfortable with its systems over time, and the difficulty levels should also help ease the player in. Additionally, there seems to be another twist related to the game’s mechanical nuance that we’ll learn about at E3.

So it sounds like Square Enix have thought long and hard about all the little things in the game- which is the mark of a great experience. Final Fantasy 15 will be available worldwide on September 30 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
