Niantic are going to make it easy to figure out just how well your Pokemon might perform in Pokemon GO with the newest Pokemon GO update. The new update makes the hidden Individual Values (which are numerical values that determine the overall effectiveness of a Pokemon) a bit more transparent.

Specifically, a player can now talk to their Team leader and figure out which of their Pokemon would do best in battle- they can then go ahead and select that Pokemon for any gym battles that they may choose to fight in (though of course, other factors, such as type matchups, can still turn the tide of battle in favor of a weaker Pokemon).

Niantic are also apparently laying the groundwork for future updates to the game, which will allegedly add more features to the hit mobile title- maybe trading? Pokemon GO is currently available on iOS and Android smartphones. You can check out the patch notes for the new update below.

  • Implemented Pokémon Appraisal: Trainers will now be able to learn about a Pokémon’s attack and defense capabilities from their Team Leader (Candela, Blanche or Spark) to determine which of their Pokémon have the most potential for battle.
  • We are still working hard on several new and exciting features to come in the future of Pokémon GO.
  • Minor bot fixes
