In a rather unexpected move, Ubisoft Massive has announced that update 1.5 and the Survival DLC for Tom Clancy’s The Division will be going live for PC users on the public test server today. Survival is only available for those with the Season Pass and if you happened to purchase it after November 3rd, then you won’t have access to the PTS.

Survival seems to be a more realistic and brutal take on The Division’s post-apocalyptic world. Players can take part in either a PvE or PvP survival simulation where they are sick and must fend for themselves in harsh weather. Other players can meet on the map (and players can’t kill each other in the PvE survival map), water and food play a role in your survival and you have to work your way to the centre of Manhattan in order to extract.

Be warned as enemies become stronger the closer you get to the centre. There are no World Tiers in Survival and everyone starts out with the same rudimentary equipment.

Update 1.5 is more quality of life changes along with a new World Tier, weapons and whatnot which we’ll cover separately. Stay tuned for more information on the update and DLC in the coming weeks or watch it for yourself on the game’s official stream.
