Yooka-Laylee Releasing on April 11th 2017

Wii U version cancelled.

Posted By | On 13th, Dec. 2016

Playtonic’s Yooka-Laylee, a crowd-funded spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, finally has a release date. It will be out on April 11th 2017 worldwide for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

However, the ex-Rare devs have announced that “unforeseen technical issues” led to the cancellation of the Wii U version. Playtonic is still looking at making a port for Nintendo Switch but more information on that will come next year.

Those who backed the Wii U version can change to the other versions for free. Simply mail the studio to do so or ask for a refund if you so desire. If you pre-order the game, then you’ll receive instant access to the Toybox demo, previously available only for backers. Backers can also upgrade to the retail version if they should so desire.

Meanwhile, new gameplay footage of the Capital Cashino stage has been released. Check it out below and let us know what you think of the game – and it’s Wii U cancellation – in the comments.
