Scalebound Cancellation Is Unfortunate, Xbox Scorpio Will See Lot of First And Third Party Support – Pachter

'Microsoft have been pretty good with content.'

While news is currently being dominated by buzz and chatter about Nintendo’s newest system, this week was also the week that saw the cancellation of the long awaited Xbox One exclusive Scalebound, the action RPG led by the legendary Hideki Kamiya.

Scalebound‘s cancellation has precipitated a sort of chain reaction among all circles- fans are making an outcry about the lack of upcoming Xbox exclusives, insiders are reporting that apparently Microsoft aren’t even working on many games at the moment, and in general, it’s a bad look for Microsoft, coming on the heels of an extraordinarily good year for them.

According to Michael Pachter, analyst at Wedbush Securities, however, Microsoft will continue to support their systems, including the upcoming Scorpio, with first party games- and those, coupled with third party games, should ensure content. “Microsoft has had great first party. The Scalebound cancellation is unfortunate, but they launched Gears and Forza last fall, and they have been pretty good with content. I am sure we will see a lot of first and third party support for Scorpio,” he said to GamingBolt.

I hope he is right- I’d love for Microsoft to go all out, and release a spate of unique and desirable exclusives, much like they did for the original Xbox, or in the first half of the Xbox 360’s life.
