Fire Emblem Heroes Releasing on February 2nd for Android

First mobile title in series will be free to play.

Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct presentation for Fire Emblem finally revealed the series’ first mobile entry – Fire Emblem Heroes, dated for February 2nd on Android and coming “soon” to iOS.

As a free to play title, Fire Emblem Heroes will feature a tile-based map, the same turn-based combat and weapon triangle system that dominated previous games and a variety of different heroes. These include Marth, Roy, Anna, Lyn, Robin, Lon’qu and more each with new artwork and voice lines. And as in earlier games, your heroes can learn new skills by leveling up.

Here’s the catch – heroes can be placed on your team with Orbs, which are earned through playing or purchased with real world money. There are Summons as well but they’re random with a certain colour to be chosen from five stones to strengthen some part of your team.

Pricing for Orbs was revealed to range from $2 for three to $75 for 140. Summoning will cost five Orbs but continuously summoning from the same stones will lower the price for that summon. Fire Emblem Heroes will receive free updates for new characters and additional content that apparently adds “hours of gameplay.”

What are your thoughts on it thus far? Let us know in the comments.
