Final Fantasy 15 Being Used By Square Enix As Benchmark To Push Graphical Boundaries

The company is working on making graphics even prettier.

There’s very little doubt that Final Fantasy 15 is a pretty good looking game. While it’s very pretty, it’s not really ground breaking as far as what Square Enix has managed to do with the graphical fidelity. While the game might not be pushing all the boundaries, it appears the developers are using its appearance in order to figure out how to make games that look that much better.

Dualshockers sent one of its reporters to Tokyo in order to get an up close and personal look at what Square is doing and that reporter came back quite impressed. The reporter stated that, “Vegetation, draw distance, density, detail… Everything on the screen appeared extremely vivid and lifelike, and considering that I’m used to what games look like nowadays, for a moment it was difficult to believe that all that visual glitz was actually running in-engine. It certainly looked like Final Fantasy XV, but pushed to limits of graphical fidelity that I didn’t even imagine while playing the game. And yet, there it was, running right in front of my eyes.” He also revealed that the technology required a powerful PC running with GTX 1080s in SLI mode.

Still, those graphics, while not recorded appear to be incredibly realistic. Perhaps Final Fantasy 16 is going to be something that puts the video game industry on its ear.
