Destiny 2 Super Regeneration Will Be Much Faster At Launch

Bungie’s Destiny 2 received quite a lot of flak during the beta for its slow regeneration of Supers and abilities. One of the biggest criticisms was in PvP where players reported getting a Super every seven minutes or so (and the match would be over by then).

However, while speaking to IGN and answering fan questions, director Luke Smith assured players that ability regeneration would be faster in the main game. “In the wake of the beta, we’ve made a few changes that will increase super regeneration across the game.”

Smith also noted that other issues like ammo not dropping frequently enough or grenades not dealing enough damage have already been changed in recent builds. With regards to PvP and PvE balancing being done separately – since one of the other concerns is PvP balance affecting weapons in PvE, Smith noted that, “In Destiny you build a character with a bunch of powers, abilities, and we hope, a combat rhythm that is consistent across the game.”

Bungie has had a rather spotty track record of balancing for PvE and PvP in Destiny. Auto rifles were nerfed from the outset followed by shotguns, handcannons, fusion rifles and so on. Though it conducted numerous balance passes to ensure these remained viable, there is general disdain for Bungie’s inability to separate PvE and PvP weapon balance.

Destiny 2 is out on September 6th for PS4 and Xbox One with the PC version arriving on October 24th.
