Titanfall 2 Had “Rough Launch Window”, Respawn Teases “Other Things”

Vince Zampella says the studio is "working on more Titanfall".

Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall 2 was an improvement over the previous game in numerous ways, from its stellar single-player campaign to the solid multiplayer. However, even though Respawn head Vince Zampella told GameSpot that the game was “successful” and “sold well”, he also notes that the overall sales performance could have been better.

“The game was successful, it sold well, but it didn’t quite sell as well as it should have. Maybe because it was super-crowded, the pricing was aggressive – it was a rough window to launch our game,” said Zampella. Considering Battlefield 1 launched the week prior and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was out in the successive weeks, it was obvious to everyone that Titanfall 2’s sales could suffer.

However, the community is doing fairly well despite its size which Zampella noting less “negativity or acidity compared to other communities.” Of course, even though Titanfall 2 wasn’t the smash hit that many were expecting doesn’t meant the series will be coming to a close. Zampella said that, “It’s important for us to keep the franchise going.

“‘We’re doing more Titanfall,'” which is the quote I’m supposed to say. We have our franchise creative director, who’s in charge of safeguarding the franchise in multiple formats and making sure it continues to grow. There’s some other things we’re doing that haven’t been announced just yet, but we’re heavily invested in the Titanfall universe.” Which includes Titanfall: Assault coming to mobiles on August 10th.

However, he also added that, “We’re working on more Titanfall – we’re not announcing what that is yet, but there’s a few other things in the works–the mobile game, which turned out fantastic and is super fun, the fans love it and allowed us to expand on what we did in the last games. So I’m pretty happy with what the franchise has become.”

Currently, Titanfall 2: Ultimate Edition is available and includes the base game with all sorts of extras and goodies.
