PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Crosses 1.5 Million Concurrent Users on Steam

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the third/first person Battle Royale survival game from Bluehole, continues to soar to new heights. It recently passed 1.5 million concurrent users on Steam and has already one-upped Valve’s own Dota 2 several times already. With more than 10 million units sold, that’s not bad at all for a game that’s still in Early Access.

Interestingly, creator Brendan Greene has said in a recent Reddit AMA that he would love to add a single-player campaign. He believes that an intriguing story could be told on the island. Alas, developer Bluehole currently doesn’t have the time or resources.

“I would love to add a single-player campaign to the game. I think the island we have could be a great location for an interesting story, but unfortunately we just don’t have the time or the resources for this at the moment!”

In other news, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds found itself embroiled in slight controversy when Bluehole expressed concern over Fortnite’s recent Battle Royale mode, which appears to be a take on the PUBG’s own genre. Whether further action will be taken or not remains to be seen but Bluehole isn’t happy about it, especially with how Fortnite names PUBG in its marketing.
