The Last of Us: Part 2 Composer Has Worked For “About A Year”, Unsure on Release Date

Composer Gustavo Santaolalla says a project like this "usually takes at least 2 years".

Sony has been rather mum on The Last of Us: Part 2, Naughty Dog’s sequel to the third person survival adventure which first launched on PS3. After its announcement at PlayStation Experience in 2016 and news that co-director Bruce Straley had left Naughty Dog, there’s been very little information to go off of.

Interestingly, composer Gustavo Santaolalla gave an interview to an Argentinian radio show (clipped by Vorterix and translated by viewers of RobinGaming) where he talked about his time working on the game. He jokingly mentioned that it would be out by 2019. Of course, Santaolalla then added that he doesn’t know exactly when it would release.

However, he did note that, “A project like usually takes at least 2 years to make. I’ve been working on it now for about a year and after my last concert at the 28th of October, I will be travelling to L.A. to keep working on the game.”

Again, this isn’t solid confirmation of the game’s release date. Rather, Santaolalla is offering his own estimate on how long a game like this usually takes. Then again, given how Naughty Dog has only recently begun devoting all of its resources to the sequel after wrapping Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, 2019 may not be that bad of an estimate.

Regardless, wait till PlayStation Experience 2017 in December for more information and let us know what you think in the comments.
