The Surge Lets You Pick Between 1080p and 60fps and 1800p and 30fps on Xbox One X

It's good to have options.

The interesting side effect of the Xbox One X (and to a lesser extent, the PS4 Pro) has been that developers are now giving console players more options in terms of how they choose to play and experience their games. This is, of course, something that PC players have long enjoyed- but console games have for the longest time been out of the box experiences that you take or leave.

The Surge, the science fiction Dark Souls like that launched earlier this year, is the latest game to allow players to pick how they want to experience the title. Speaking to WCCFTech, Deck13, the developers of the game, confirmed that the title will let players play in either a full 60 frames per second at a 1080p resolution, or let them play at a native 1800p resolution, while cutting down the framerate to 30fps.

Now, in a game like this, I would argue that resolution isn’t half as important as the framerate, and I would go for the framerate mode every single time- but it is nice to see that others who disagree with me will now have the option to tweak the game to their liking, too.
