Sony Confirms 2018 Release Date For Days Gone, Reveals More Details

Sony Interactive Entertainment president Shuhei Yoshida confirmed during last night’s PSX that Sony Bend’s upcoming open world zombie action game, Days Gone, will indeed be launching in 2018 itself. A more specific release date (or even window) for the game was not confirmed, but it’s looking pretty likely that the game will be out in the first half of the year. Why?

Well, because Yoshida also confirmed that the game’s development is in its later stages. Days Gone is internally playable from start to finish, and is currently being play-tested at Sony Bend. The development team is ion the process of applying polish, tweaks and refinements to the game, which means that the game is not that far away from finishing development.

Yoshida also talked about how Days Gone is, in so many ways, quite similar to Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us. He mentioned that the issue of whether or not there will be any overlap and repetition between Days Gone and the also-upcoming The Last of Us 2 was an actual point of conversation at Sony Bend. Yoshida revealed that Bend and Naughty Dog held conversations to make sure that both games were headed in different directions.

That’s good to hear, that both studios are aware that that could have been an issue, and both worked to make sure that it doesn’t become a problem. It remains to be seen whether those conversations actually worked, but things are definitely looking good right now. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for continued coverage.
