Uncharted 2 was a fantastic game that was able to easily trump its predecessor with its intense graphics, incredible set pieces and polished multiplayer. Considering Uncharted 2 is thus considered one of the best games of 2009, and of all time in some peoples’ opinion, Uncharted 3 will have to make some serious ground to come out on top. Read on for a summary of ten ways that Uncharted 3 will be the best game in the series yet.

More high-flying action

Like this, but even more plentiful

Though it borrows heavily from the third person shooter genre, Uncharted has always been a platformer at heart. New moves seem set to be on the way for Drake including, what has so far been called, enhanced backward climbing. What this specific move will add to the formula is unknown but, with new moves and new set pieces, Drake’s Deception is sure to throw out more of the high-flying action that Uncharted fans can’t seem to get enough of.

Superior melee combat

Is this a brawl or a queue? I can't really tell

The punch ups in previous Uncharted games have been fun, but they’ve lacked the all out intensity and “one man versus the world” feel of the game’s gun fights. Uncharted 3 seems set to change that with Drake now being able to tussle with multiple foes at once. A bigger focus on all out brawls could lend the game’s combat even greater variety, and that’s always a good thing in my book.

New setting

Jungles and tombs? That is so 2009...

Jungles, tombs, the Arctic. Who needs ’em? In Uncharted 3, everyone’s favourite treasure hunter will go up against man’s greatest foe: The untamed desert. Sand-based environments haven’t really been given all that much love in the Uncharted series so far, so it’s interesting to think how Drake will act in such a harsh environment. New settings and new situations will help further separate Uncharted 3 from its predecessors.
