Rainbow Six Siege

Ubisoft has poured quite the amount of resources into Rainbow Six Siege from overhauling key systems to migrating to dedicated servers to please its fanbase. As such, the game’s popularity has risen as a result – the publisher confirmed roughly 27 million players in total. For a PvP-focused game that launched in 2015 and was essentially written off, that’s not bad at all.

Despite its success though, Ubisoft doesn’t plan to release a sequel anytime soon, if ever. Speaking at a panel during the 2018 Six Invitational, the development team said it wants to support Rainbow Six Siege for ten years. The plan is to release 100 Operators in total with eight new Operators coming in Year 3. Two of those Operators will be debuting with Operation Chimera in the coming days.

Along with other new gameplay changes, like buffs for maps, there are also plans to rebalance some maps for Bomb Mode. There will also be a Pick and Ban mode akin to MOBAs where players can ban Operators on the opposing team. That will head to Custom Games first and may rollout to public matchmaking in due time.
