Microsoft’s E3 Presentation Will be on June 10, Will Be “Something Different”

Whatever could they be planning?

Microsoft has announced that its E3 presentation will be held on June 10 this year, at 4PM ET/1PM PT. This falls on a Sunday, which is in line with their show last year (which was also on a Sunday); that said, it is one hour earlier this year than it was last year (which makes for a better viewing time for Europeans as well- good move there, Microsoft).

Simultaneously, Tom Waren of The Verge – the outlet that also was among the first to break the existence of Microsoft’s “Project Scorpio”, before it was even officially announced – has confirmed that Microsoft will be doing “something different” for its E3 festivities this year (which is in line with comments from Microsoft executives); what that “something different” is should apparently “start to make sense soon”.

Maybe Microsoft will pull a Nintendo, and move away from live presentations to the Direct/Treehouse format? Something like that would make sense, but at the same time, would they want to cede all the live press coverage to Sony? It took Nintendo many years before they perfected the digital Direct format- does Microsoft want to risk doing this now?

Maybe they’re not doing the digital thing, and will be doing something else entirely. Hopefully it’s exciting- we should find out soon enough either way.
