Shadow of the tomb raider leaked

Eidos Montreal is working hard on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the penultimate conclusion to the story that began with Tomb Raider in 2013 (though it won’t necessarily be the final story with this Lara Croft). Along with releasing for multiple platforms at the same time in September, Shadow of the Tomb Raider will also support the more powerful Xbox One X.

To that end, what can players on the platform expect in terms of resolution and frame rate? Crystal Dynamics brand manager Chris Johnston spoke to GamingBolt and while the studios haven’t commented on it yet, “It’s probably going to be pretty similar when it comes to 4K at 30fps, then 60fps at 1080p.”

Naturally this would lead to questions over whether “4K” means native 4K but a quick gander on the game’s Xbox.com listing shows “4K Ultra HD”. Cross-reference that with the official list of Xbox One X Enhanced games – where it’s clearly stated that “4K Ultra HD” means outputting at 2160p resolution – and it would seem that native 4K support is indeed happening.

Concerning his thoughts on the Xbox One X version specifically, Johnston said, “You can see that the game looks awesome [on Xbox One X]. It’s fun to use these new tech engines to push the game to its fullest potential.”

Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be releasing on September 14th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
