There have been many speculations regarding when the next generation of consoles might be releasing, and some have predicted that it can be no earlier than 2020. Next-gen consoles are coming, there are no two ways about that. In fact, Microsoft has already confirmed that they are working on their next-gen Xbox console. Sony, too, have confirmed that a PS5 is incoming. And it seems that development kits have already been sent out to middleware parties if a middleware company’s log is anything to go by.
As spotted by a ResetEra user BitsandBytes, Bink Video, a middleware company updated its software log to include the following point: “Added a new secret NDA-ed platform.” According to the same user on ResetEra, support for the PS4 and Xbox One was added back in 2012 according to the logs below but then again it’s not confirmed whether those platforms were actually PS4 and Xbox One.
But if they were PS4 and Xbox One, then the latest update does make it seem like either the next-gen Xbox or the PS5 devkit was recently added to Bink’s list. However, this is a mere assumption as this could literally be anything. Regardless, a platform under NDA is certainly an interesting situation, and if anything, this confirms that more gaming platforms are on the way.
