Call of Cthulhu Will Run At “4K” Resolutions On Xbox One X, But Won’t Be 60 FPS

The Xbox One X version of the upcoming psychological horror title will get some neat visual enhancements.

Call of Cthulhu

Call of Cthulhu is looking like an interesting prospect, mixing together elements from Lovecraftian imagery and the tabletop game it is based on in a blend of psychological horror, mixed in with detective work and a focus on narrative. It’s a game that we imagine will have some striking visual imagery, to say the least, as psychological horror titles of its ilk usually do, and it seems like on the Xbox One X, said imagery will be boosted by some pretty sweet visual enhancements.

We recently sat down for an interview with Cyanide, developers of the game, and spoke to Diane Quenet (Project Manager) and Romain Wiart (Lead Writer) about a number of things related to the title. One of the things we asked them about, of course, was whether or not the game will sport any Xbox One X enhancements (it’s a topic that truly fascinates us, in case you haven’t caught on). The developers told us that Call of Cthulhu will indeed be leveraging the added powers of the Xbox One X. Though they said the game wouldn’t be running at 60 frames-per-second (bummer), they did confirm that it would support 4K resolutions. However, it’s not clear whether this will be native or some other form of 4K resolution.

Call of Cthulhu launches for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 30th of this year.
