State of Play Likely Set for February 12th, as PlayStation Director Reposts Last Year’s Announcement

Senior product development director Mihir Sheth may have accidentally mixed up the years and inadvertently confirmed this week's show.

State of Play

‘Tis the season – or month – for State of Play, and amid rumors of the next happening on February 12th, it seems PlayStation may have let the proverbial cat out of the bag by accident. Spotted on Twitter, senior product development director Mihir Sheth seemingly retweeted an announcement of the showcase for the same date. The problem? It was for last year’s show.

While it’s since been deleted, you can view the mirror here (courtesy of Reddit). It’s possible that Sheth thought it was for this year and that the announcement already went live, not knowing that he was retweeting last year’s. Maybe it was a tease in his own way, which he deleted because it was plain as day what it could mean.

Regardless, there are other clues for the same. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach director Hideo Kojima tweeted about editing a new trailer, which usually happens before a big showcase (or State of Play). There’s also the fact that the show has happened around this time, if not this exact week, for the past several years. Of course, knowing Sony, you can probably expect them to confirm it exactly one day before the actual showcase.

Stay tuned in the meantime, but if (and when) State of Play happens, you can probably expect to see Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, Saros, 4:Loop and maybe that rumored 2.5 Metroidvania spin-off for God of War.
