Treyarch may be busy hyping up Blackout for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, but DICE has also just dropped some new information about Battlefield 5’s own Battle Royale mode, dubbed Firestorm. Battlefield writer Jeff Landa and DICE content lead Jonas Elfving outlined several things that players could expect (including confirmation of Criterion’s involvement).

First off, it’s confirmed that Firestorm will support up to 64 players, and they will indeed be divided into squads of four players each. The map is surrounded by a shrinking ring of fire, hence the name, and will have different types of objectives throughout. Similar to those found in Conquest mode, the objectives can be found at fixed and random locations alike. Supplies, weapons, and vehicles will vary in these cases, and completing objectives will apparently “unlock the most valuable gear to increase your chances of being the last ones standing.”

As for vehicles, the Panzer tank is confirmed, but don’t expect to utterly dominate the competition while using it. “Getting hold of a tank can give you a great edge, but you won’t be invincible — and you need to measure risk versus reward if you challenge other squads to secure the battlefield’s most fearsome hardware,” DICE says. “Jumping into a transport vehicle will give your squad an edge in speed and power. If you find something with wheels, you can drive it into battle — or plot a quick escape.”

Also, those who preordered the game can receive a nice bonus in the form of the Firestorm Ranger Set. It includes goggles, a MkIII(S) Elite Combat Dagger, and fatigues. This can be used throughout the rest of the game as well. Check out non-final concept art for the same below.

Battlefield 5 is out on November 20th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
