Just Cause 4 Will Have “In-Game Purchases”, As Per ESRB Rating

That doesn't necessarily mean microtransactions- but it very well might.

Microtransactions are something people seem to grudgingly tolerate in multiplayer games (perhaps not even then), but when they’re included in single player titles, they rub a lot of people the wrong way. It seems Just Cause 4 is going to be another example of that.

The upcoming open world title by Avalanche Studios was recently rated by the ESRB, and while a lot of it describes stuff that you would expect – violence, gunplay, profanity in language, and, of course, an M for Mature rating – one particular bit of information is more notable than all the other stuff. According to ESRB, the game will include “in-game purchases”, which could mean microtransactions.

Of course, it should also be noted that this could apply to a number of other things, such as DLC or Season Pass purchases, since that is also something that falls under the “in-game purchases” category in ESRB’s ratings and descriptions.

Just Cause 4 launches on December 4 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Recently, the full map of Just Cause 4 was revealed (it’s pretty huge, as you might expect), while new trailers have also focused on things such as its bombastic weather effects and narrative elements.
