Cyberpunk 2077 is a massive game and as such, seeing a project of this scale utilizing technologies from other companies isn’t odd. To that end, developer CD Projekt RED has announced a partnership with Digital Scapes, a studio founded by BioWare, Relic, and other industry veterans.

The company focuses on console and PC development with a focus on creating assets, cloud computing, and development tools. It will work with CD Projekt RED on different technologies for Cyberpunk 2077’s development.

Speaking about the partnership, CD Projekt RED SVP of business development Michał Nowakowski said, “Cyberpunk 2077 is our most ambitious project to date and we work hard every day to make it a creative and technological achievement. The Digital Scapes team brings aboard a lot of talent, experience and technical knowledge, and I’m very confident our long-term cooperation will add plenty to the game.”

Digital Scapes studio head Marcin Chady also said that, “We are both excited and honoured to work with CD Projekt RED. Their incredibly creative and accomplished team of developers have been pushing narrative-driven, role-playing games to unprecedented levels. We look forward to helping them create the very best video games on the planet.”

Cyberpunk 2077 has been a major talking point following its debut trailer at E3 2018 and the subsequent release of its hour-long gameplay demo. CD Projekt RED has been working to optimize the game and present a “cinematic storytelling” experience. Though it has no release date, rumours peg the game to release in 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment distributing it in North America.
