That Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!, the newest entries in the long running series and the first ones to have ever hit a home console, are doing well shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, particularly after early numbers from the U.K. already painted a rosy picture for its performance.
However, the big question here has always been if the games will manage to drive Switch hardware sales. Nintendo’s target for the year is to sell 20 million units of the Nintendo Switch. It’s an ambitious target, and it relies on Pokemon Let’s Go doing well on the market (in addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, obviously). So- has it?
It seems like it is doing the job, yes. Known U.S. sales insider Benji, who is known for his insights into sales trends for video game hardware and software in the world’s largest market for video games, has recently taken to Twitter, talking about how the Spider-Man PS4 bundle is doing well, but also about how Pokemon Let’s Go seems to be driving sales of the Switch. Pokemon, he says, has had “a noteworthy impact” on Switch’s performance.
What this means for the Holiday season remains to be seen. But for now, early indications suggest Nintendo’s gambit may have paid off.
Tracking for the $199 Spider-Man PS4 bundle as well as Switch hardware in general is off to a tremendous start. The Pokemon Let's Go games are having a noteworthy impact on driving new Switch sales.
If you want those $199 Spidey PS4s though I'd get on it now. Shortages imminent
