The Elder Scrolls: Blades Coming in Early 2019

For now, it’s best that all hands be on deck trying to fix Fallout 76, so this is fine.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades was announced back at E3 earlier this year. The game is promised to be a full fledged mobile adaptation of The Elder Scrolls series, with full fledged dungeons, combat, and questing. Eventually, the game is also planned to be coming to consoles, PC, and VR, with cross platform play mentioned as a possibility too.

People have been waiting for the game in earnest—it looks great, and we know this isn’t the only future game announced for its series, unlike other franchises that have mobile titles coming up—and it was originally supposed to be out in early December. However, it received an eleventh hour delay, because Bethesda announced on Twitter today that the game will now be releasing in early 2019 instead.

Maybe the negative reaction to Fallout 76 means that all hands are currently on deck trying to right the ship with that game, and there’s not enough manpower left to put the finishing touches on The Elder Scrolls Blades. Whatever the reason is, given Fallout 76’s troubled (and I am being charitable here) launch, I would rather Bethesda take the time trying to ensure Blades launches well, than rushing it out before it is ready.
