Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! And Let’s Go, Eevee! Apparently Had A Development Team of 100 People

Game Freak also admits to development difficulties along the way.

Pokemon let’s go

Game development these days is pretty large scale, with most games having people numbering in the hundreds, if not thousands, working on them in the lead up to their release. Which is why it is positively surprising to hear that Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! had a development team of just about a hundred people working on them.

This news comes from a thank you email that Game Freak and The Pokemon Company sent out to fans for the game in Japan, which credits about a hundred Game Freak staff for their contributions to the project (via Nintendo Soup). The email also notes that there were “difficulties” for the development team in transitioning to the Switch, through it never actually details what those difficulties were.

It is unclear if this also includes the people whom a lot of the game’s development was apparently outsourced to, judging by the games’ credits roll. Regardless, it seems like in spite of such a small development team (and these development difficulties), Pokemon Let’s Go turned out extremely well, and is a great breath of fresh air for the series in all the right ways.
