Resident Evil 2 is going to change a whole lot of stuff from the 1998 game it is based on, including character models for all the main players of the story. But if you’re a purist who wants the upcoming reimagining to be as close to its source material as possible, this recent announcement from Capcom will likely come as pleasant news for you.

During a livestream that was recently held by the developers (take a look below) to celebrate the game’s looming launch, it was announced that Leon and Claire’s costumes and character models from the 1998 version of the PS1 Resident Evil 2 will be released as DLC for the remake at launch. These will be paid for a while (no price was announced), but will be made free to all players on March 22.

The exact same low polygonal models that were used for Claire and Leon in the original release will be brought over as is, and should be a nice little nod to the 1998 classic, one that veteran fans will surely appreciate. If you’re playing the game on PC, you can even make it look like a PS1 game at the lowest possible settings, so pairing the two up together should be very interesting.

Meanwhile, there’s other content coming post-launch as well. During the same livestream, Capcom also announced a new mode titled “The Ghost Survivors” that will be release as free post-launch DLC for the game. And there might be more in the works too- Capcom is considering more DLC for the Resident Evil 2.

The game itself launches on January 25 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
