Xbox One Has Sold 41 Million Units Worldwide – Analyst

Sales of the Xbox One appear to be lower globally than many may have expected.

We already know that the PS4 and the Nintendo Switch are doing incredibly well globally. The Xbox One, however, has had a rough generation, and though Phil Spencer has managed to turn the brand around somewhat in the last few years, it’s hard to deny that the Xbox One is on the whole a misstep for the brand, that we will now have to wait till next generation to see Microsoft recover from.

Sales for the Xbox One are bad enough that Microsoft no longer reporters them. However, posting on ResetEra, Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad revealed that global sales for the Xbox One are now at 41 million units. This actually means that the global sales ratio between Xbox One and PS4, which has been 1:2 for a while, has now widened.

It also indicates that the Switch, which launched in 2017, and was coming off of the one of the most prominent failures in home console history, will end up having outsold the Xbox One by the end of this year. On the whole, it indicates just how big of a misstep the Xbox One was for Microsoft this generation. Let’s hope they do better with the next generation Xbox codenamed Scarlett, work on which has already begun.
