Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown was announced for the Xbox One a while ago; now, at last, we know when we can expect to play it on our consoles. Well, at least somewhat. Crytek announced a release window for the game today, which is “Spring”.
”Spring” is a large and non-specific release window, of course, and the announced release is still technically early access, since the game is launching in Xbox Game Preview (as was previously confirmed). That said, Crytek at least has an explanation for the Game Preview release, with producer Fatih Özbayram noting that such a release allows better dialog with community feedback—which, I guess, is fair enough.
“We continue to want Hunt: Showdown’s development to be community-driven, and an Xbox Game Preview release allows us to base further development work on community feedback as we test and refine new features, equipment, cast and settings,” said Özbayram. “The dialogue between the Hunt community and Hunt developers will be important in creating a fun experience.”
We also got a teaser trailer for the Xbox One version of the game, with some footage of how the game will look running on Microsoft’s console, which you can see for yourself below. Hunt: Showdown is also available right now on Steam Early Access, should you decide you don’t want to wait for “Spring”.
