From Guerrilla Games and to Remedy’s Sam Lake to Joe Penna and Jordan Vogt-Roberts, multiple people in and out of the industry have been lucky enough to get their eyes (and hands) on Hideo Kojima’s upcoming Death Stranding, and they’ve all had nothing but positive things to say. Now, we can add another name to that list- Iain Cook of popular Scottish band CHVRCHES.

Recently, while speaking with Consolevania, Cook talked about his trip to Kojima Productions’ studio in Tokyo, where he got to see some of their work on Death Stranding, which he says is “unlike anything I have seen anyone else do”.

“I was in Tokyo with the band and we went to his studio and he showed us around as well as showing us some work in progress on his new game Death Stranding,” said Cook. “He came to the show and we went for some sushi afterwards. I thought I was going to be star-struck but he’s very cool and  easy to talk to (once you get used to talking through an interpreter that is!) His office is so cool, it’s all classic horror memorabilia and Godzilla shit.”

“I could have spent all day in there,” Cook continued. “He’s such an inspiration though, so brave and thinks like no one else. Some of the shit he is doing with the new game is unlike anything I have seen anyone else do. I have no idea how he’s going to make it work but I am confident that if anyone can do it, Kojima can.”

We haven’t had a lot of updates on Death Stranding outside of second hand impressions on the game for a while now. Recently, however, Kojima mentioned that development was slightly behind scheduled– though it’s still in “a key time of development”, and Sony, too, might be gearing up to kick off marketing for the game. Meanwhile, recently, Kojima Productions filed a couple of trademarks that might have provided us some clues about what the game’s multiplayer component will be like. Read more on that through here.
