The PlayStation 5, even in the absence of a formal reveal, is a more tangible presence now than it was a couple months back, thanks mostly to the soft reveal done by Sony’s Mark Cerny, lead architect on the console. Devkits for the console have been sent out to various developers across the industry, with other studios speaking of their excitement about the console, owing to its promises about leaps in technology.

Of course, the first in line to have received devkits for the system would have been Sony’s own first party studios. One such studio is SIE London Studio, who’ve been known for their work on games such as The Getaway and Wonderbook: The Book of Spells over the years, and whose next title, the PSVR-exclusive Blood and Truth, will be launching in a couple of weeks.

Speaking with GameSpot, the studio’s senior principal designer, Simon Hermitage spoke about the PS5, and the system’s potential, and how SIE London Studio is looking to getting to create games for it- with Mark Cerny already having confirmed that the system will indeed support PSVR.

“I was excited, as everyone was, to read [lead system architect] Mark Cerny’s article with Wired, and the potential of that system means I’ll be sticking around here to get my hands on that as soon as possible,” said Hermitage. “We’ll do what we always do: push that as hard as it can possibly go.”

The PS5 won’t be out within the next twelve months, by Sony’s own admission, but we can still expect to see the console launching in 2020, if other reports are to be believed. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates.
