League of Legends Mobile In Development, Not A Straight PC Port – Report

After attaining worldwide popularity and being one of the definitive PC MOBAs since launching in 2009, Riot Games’ League of Legends is apparently soon heading to mobile platforms as well. A report by Reuters says that three different sources confirmed that a mobile version is in development. It’s actually been in the works for a little over a year till now.

The mobile version will also likely not be releasing in 2019. Kotaku also spoke to a source that said it won’t be exactly like the PC version. Less characters, items, and runes seems to be the case, but this League of Legends isn’t a straight PC adaptation either. It’s being developed specifically for mobile devices.

Interestingly, Tencent – Riot Games’ owner – has been seeking a mobile version of the game for years, but the developer has always refused. Subsequently, this led to the creation of Tencent’s Honor of Kings (later brought to the West as Arena of Valor). When League of Legends will release for mobiles remains to be seen, but it would certainly be a momentous occasion.
