SNK has been using the last few weeks to tease out the roster for their upcoming Samurai Shodown, the latest instalment in the long running franchise. The last few trailers have highlighted returning classic characters, such as Shiki, Charlotte, and the series’ main protagonist, Haohmaru. The game will also have three newcomers to the franchise, with the first having been detailed earlier. Now we get a look at the mysterious Yashamaru Kurama.
You can check out the introduction trailer below. Yashamaru is dressed similar to a Tengu, a mythological half bird, half human type demon in Japanese lore. He claims to have dark powers from that mystical beast passed down through his family line, along with the nagamaki that he uses to slice up opponents. Whether his ties to the tengu are legitimate or not is up for debate, but he has some form of unearthly power, as he unleashes a flurry of glowing feathers at enemies.
Samurai Shodown will release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 25th, and for the Switch in Q4 2019, with a PC version coming at an undetermined date. Don’t forget, if you purchase the game before June 30th, you get the season pass for free.
