Being set between Episodes 3 and 4, when the Jedi are being hunted down and the Galactic Empire is tightening its iron grip across the entire galaxy, you would be forgiven for thinking that Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order would be an especially grim game. But though it will definitely tackling those dark tones, it’s not going to be all doom and gloom.

While speaking in an interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine in their July issue (Issue 163), game director Stig Asmussen said that Fallen Order isn’t going to be dreary all the time, and that there will be moments of levity, whether that’s through narrative moments, or even through the art design. Finding beauty in something that’s “terrifying”, in Asmussen’s words, is something Fallen Order will encourage its players to do as well.

“We definitely want to have range in the game, we don’t want to feel like it’s always dreary,” said Asmussen. “The game does have hope, it has colour to it, whether that’s elements that we sprinkled into the story, or whether that’s how we approach the artwork. You can find beauty in things that are very terrifying as well, and somewhat hopeless.”

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is out on November 15 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. EA is going to do a gameplay reveal for the title at its EA Play event- check out when exactly you can catch it live through here.
