Watch Dogs Legion Director Doesn’t Know If You Can Finish The Game Non-Lethally

He DOES know there's plenty of non-lethal options for those who want to try.

Ubisoft lifted the lid on Watch Dogs Legion at E3, and did so with a very impressive showing. Allowing you to play as any and every NPC in the game, each with their own unique attributes, backstories, and personalities, theoretically, Watch Dogs Legion presents nearly infinite combinations and permutations in both gameplay and story.

But given just how many options are available to you as a player, does that mean you can, if you wish, finish the entire game without killing a single enemy? Say you only recruited and played as NPCs that are skilled at stealth, would that let you play the entire game non-lethally? Even the developers don’t seem to know the answer to that question.

In an interview with Twinfinite, creative director Clint Hocking said that though there will be multiple non-lethal options available to players (with half the weapons in the game being non-lethal, for instance), he doesn’t actually know if it’s possible to complete the game without killing a soul.

“We really focused on having non-lethal weapons this time around so about half of the weapons are non-lethal and then we focused on making on a pretty robust melee system so if you don’t pull out guns, the enemies won’t pull out guns –in most cases,” he said. “We really wanted to make sure that non-lethal was an option in any combat encounter.

“I’m not going to say it was a goal for us to say that players can beat the game without killing anyone –maybe you can, I actually don’t know. It’s not a goal for us; the goal was to make sure we have robust non-lethal options for players.”

Watch Dogs Legion is out on March 6, 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
