The cover is off the multiplayer reveal for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. We’ve seen a lot of stuff, both new and old for the multiplayer, and now the countdown is on for the campaign gameplay reveal. But in the meantime, we aren’t quite done with the multiplayer aspect of the game just yet, because we just got confirmation of a returning feature that’s sure to make players very happy.
Via the latest issue of Game Informer (Issue 317), developer Infinity Ward confirmed that dedicated servers will be returning to the franchise. By and large, the franchise had switched over to P2P (peer 2 peer) servers for a long time. Some recent titles had a hybrid system that saw switching between the two, but seems that dedicated servers are back completely now, hopefully to make crossplay just a bit more steady.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release October 25th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. While you wait for the campaign footage, you can also get a look at an interesting and unexpected feature that was cut from the game through here.
