"Occasional gameplay system updates" are also "within scope" for the dev team.

Diablo 3 Eternal Collection

Amid the controversy of Diablo Immortal and rumours of Diablo 4’s reveal at BlizzCon 2019, the Diablo 3 team is still working hard on its game. In a new post, it revealed plans for ongoing support. Given the success of Themed Seasons – which provide twists to the usual Seasonal Play with buffs and whatnot – it’s confirmed that more Themed Seasons are on the way.

Players can also expect each class to receive a new gear set and that there will be “dozens” of Legendary powers. There will also be class balance changes with quality of life and “occasional gameplay system updates” also “within scope”. Though the developer noted that the updates wouldn’t arrive together, there would be something en route for everyone to enjoy.

It also noted that this update was the first in a series of steps for better communication on upcoming plans. “One thing we’ve been asked for is to clarify what our plans are, what (exactly) we’re working on, and where the future will take us. This blog is one of our first steps. More frequent presence and interaction from our community team on our new forums, especially around patches and PTR cycles, is another. We want to be able to talk and interact with members of our community around the world on a regular basis about the thing we love that brings us together: Diablo.”

Diablo 3 first released in 2012 with the Reaper of Souls expansion providing a sizable amount of new content in 2014. It’s been receiving free updates since then – aside from the paid Rise of the Necromancer pack – and also released on Nintendo Switch. More support for the title is always good and we can’t wait to see what the team cooks up next. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
