Cyberpunk 2077 – Fighting the Law Can Result in Your Death

The best options are to either run or fight the cops and then run, as per producer Richard Borzymowski.

The law is a tenuous concept in CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077. They’re at the beck and call of megacorporations and think nothing of taking a bribe to hunt you down if you mess with a company. It was also noted that killing civilians in town with witnesses around will result in others getting involved.

However, USGamer spoke to producer Richard Borzymowski and learned exactly how the different districts also factor in. Essentially, there are districts like City Center and Japantown which are home to the rich. Pacifica, on the other hand, is full of poorer folk and more ripe for committing crimes.

“In Pacifica (one of the poorer areas) you could probably shoot someone, and if nobody would see then nobody would care. If you would do that in the City Center you would probably get some law enforcement. Because those areas are way more patrolled. The crowds will act and dress differently. You might hear more languages, for example Japanese might be a prominent language, because the Japanese are considered upper class in the universe.”

Borzymowski also said that you can fight the law but it’s ultimately a losing battle. “Your options are to run away, fight them and then run away, or fight them, fight them, fight them, and then die.” It sounds like the police won’t stop coming after you until you’re dead, similar to Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out on April 16th 2020 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Check out some of the new ray-traced screenshots revealed at Gamescom. Hopefully we’ll be seeing live gameplay demos this week as well.
