Borderlands 3 Devs Want An Anime Adaptation Of The Franchise… And An Amusement Park

It's nice to want things.

Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 will be here at the end of the week, and a lot of people are excited. The game promises a lot of base content, with a lot coming beyond launch as well. The series has always been noted for its odd brand of humor, and, well, it seems the developers behind it are playing the part a bit in some of the odd things they have envisioned for the franchise.

Talking with VG247, Borderlands 3creative director Paul Sage talked about what kind of adaptations he wants to see for the franchise. A live action film is reportedly underway already, so he’d love to see the series get an official anime adaptation and get some presence in that medium as well now.

“You know, somebody brought up ‘Love, Death & Robots’ to me,” said Sage. “And I was like, oh hell yeah! That’d be a lot of fun. I’d love to see things like that, honestly.”

“We’ll see what the future holds,” he added. “I mean, hopefully, people love the game. And hopefully, they love all the source material and they want to do that.”

I guess that’s not that odd, since plenty of properties have partnered with studios to do animated adaptations of popular gaming franchise. But then he starts talking about Borderlands getting its own theme park. While he doesn’t seem too serious about that one, he has put… a good deal of thought into it.

“A Borderlands theme park… Yes! I’ll take a Borderlands theme park!” said Sage. “I’m trying to think of what would be the most obvious ride that you would have… would it be Claptrap’s Cave? You know, when I was a kid, I used to go to Six Flags all the time, and going into the cave was always so fun. And the log ride. So yeah, I’d totally dig something like that.

“The nice thing about log flumes is that there are no stairs, so it’s totally Claptrap-compatible.”

Well, coming from the same guy who wants Dwayne Johnson as the voice of Claptrap, I guess it’s not too surprising. You may not see an anime or theme park for it, but Borderlands 3 will launch later this week for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The review embargo for the title is up today, so keep your eyes peeled for the first reviews.
