Mojang’s Minecraft Dungeons will be receiving some additional development help courtesy of Double Eleven. The British studio, which has worked on titles like LittleBigPlanet for PlayStation Vita and Goat Simulator on consoles, will also help with the game’s console ports. It will also assist with online systems and content creation.

David Nisshagen, executive producer at Mojang, said that, “We’re thrilled to have found a partner that shares our passion for creating great games, and we’re looking forward to working closely with Double Eleven to bring Minecraft Dungeons to a wide range of platform. We’re excited to watch our passion project continue to grow, and Double Eleven’s expertise and dedication will help us create a high-quality experience for our community.”

Minecraft Dungeons is a “milestone” as per Double Eleven CEO Lee Hutchinson and he believes that it “highlights the next phase of the team’s expansion.” There are “more exciting announcements still to come this year” from the studio, which should be interesting to see. As such, given the scope and scale of Minecraft – which Mojang is still deeply committed to – it makes sense to tap Double Eleven, especially when the dungeon crawler is launching for four different platforms.

Minecraft Dungeons is coming to Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch in Spring 2020. It includes Enchantments and procedurally generated worlds like the original game but throws in some isometic action RPG and loot akin to Diablo. Four player co-op is supported both locally and online.
