Red Dead Redemption 2

After months of leaks and speculation, Rockstar have finally confirmed that their massively successful open world megaton Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PC. The open world western epic will launch on PC in just a little over a month, on November 5.

It will be available via Rockstar’s own new launcher, the Epic Games Store, Humble Store, Greenman Gaming, and various other digital retailers. Steam users will also get access to the game, but will have to wait a little longer, with the game launching on Valve’s storefront in December.

Additionally, Rockstar have also confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be launching alongside Stadia as a launch title for the streaming platform on November 22.

Rockstar is promising “a range of graphical and technical enhancements for increased immersion”, while new content for the campaign on PC includes new Bounty Hunting missions, gang hideouts, weapons, and more. Red Dead Online will, of course, also be part of the package, and release with all the improvements and updates the mode has seen on consoles so far.

Pre-purchasing for Red Dead Redemption 2 will begin on the Rockstar Games Launcher at 11AM ET on October 9, and those who purchase the game before October 22 will get a choice of two additional free games of their choice from a list that includes Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Bully: Scholarship Edition, L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition, and Max Payne 3: The Complete Edition

Anyone pre-purchasing via the Rockstar Games Launcher will also get free upgrades to the Premium Editions of Red Dead Redemption 2, with both the Special Edition and Ultimate Edition discounted by $20 each. Finally, there’s a list of other pre-order bonuses exclusive to the Rockstar Games Launcher, including 50 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online, and a a war horse, cash bonus, Outlaw Survival Kit, and treasure map in the campaign.

Finally, pre-orders for the game will open up on other digital platforms starting October 23. Anyone pre-ordering via those platforms will get a bonus of 25 Gold Bars in Red Dead Online.

Red Dead Redemption 2 released last year for the PS4 and Xbox One, and was met with overwhelmingly positive response for critics. In our own review of the game, we called it “a landmark achievement for Rockstar, for open world games, and for video games as a whole.” You can read our full glowing review through here.

At last count, Red Dead Redemption 2 had shipped over 25 million units worldwide. There shouldn’t be any doubt in anyone’s mind that the looming PC release will provide a major boost to its already impressive sales.
