Hideo Kojima and his team have been working on the upcoming Death Stranding for three years, and though the game is still a few days away from release, Kojima is already ready to move on to whatever comes next. Recently, speaking in an interview with Dutch outlet Gamer.nl (via ResetEra), Kojima said that though he’s enjoying the post-development period of Death Stranding, ideas for whatever his next game will be have already been floating in his head for a while now.

“I’ve been walking around thinking about a future project for a while now,” he said. “But that doesn’t mean that these aren’t stressful times. Even though I embrace that stress, its sometimes quite painful, like the contractions when giving birth. But the past four years were probably worse, as now I know it’ll be over soon. At the same time I’m watching it all from a distance and enjoying myself.”

It’ll be interesting to see what game Kojima and his team work on next. He has said a couple times in recent months that he might work on sequels to Death Stranding to help properly establish what he calls “Strand game” as a new genre. Meanwhile, Kojima’s also a huge fan of cloud streaming, and he says he has a big streaming-centric idea in his mind. It’s interesting to note that even back in September, Kojima suggested that he was gearing up to begin working on his next game.

In the immediate future though, Kojima and his team have probably earned a reinvigorating vacation. Death Stranding is out on November 8 for the PS4- you can check out its recent lengthy launch trailer through here. Our review will be going live tomorrow, so stay tuned.

Death Stranding will also release on PC in summer of 2020, where it will be published by 505 Games.
