Anthem Suffers Another Departure – BioWare’s Head of Live Service is Out

After lead producer Ben Irving left the project, BioWare head of live service Chad Robertson is the latest to exit Anthem. Robertson announced on Twitter that he’s leaving the company after 14 years. He also noted that “SW:TOR [Star Wars: The Old Republic], Anthem, the Austin studio, and BioWare are in good hands; you can expect great things ahead.”

Robertson has had a tough task over the past several months. Following Anthem’s troubled launch, it struggled to meet its post-launch plans. After the various Acts in the initial roadmap were delayed, it was scrapped entirely and a focus on seasonal content was instead promised.

Anthem has received new content in the form of the Cataclysm and Season of Skulls while BioWare focuses on other core issues. While Robertson’s departure does raise some concerns, the title was the fifth best-selling game in the United States by August end. EA has also expressed interest in doubling down on its live service games so Anthem could very well stick around. For now though, it’s a matter of waiting.
