Airship Syndicate’s Darksiders Genesis is out later this week, bringing the series to an isometric hack and slash style of gameplay. However, it will be coming to Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch in 2020. Given the gameplay and how well suited the title would be for playing on the go, how well optimized will the Switch version be?

In an interview with Nintendo Everything, Airship Syndicate CEO said that the studio was aiming for the “highest possible” frame rate and resolution for the Switch version. However, he also confirmed that it would be “100 percent the same” in content terms. “Certainly, it is a different platform technically to work on then some of the others, so we’ll be making some concessions, but the team is working really hard right now to make sure that it’s as good as it can be.”

President Ryan Stefanelli further added that, “We’ve gotten a taste of what the transition is like, and we’re getting a lot of help on [Darksiders Genesis] too, so hopefully Switch players will be happy with it. It’s really cool being able to bring a new Darksiders game to the Switch. We’re excited about it.”

Stefanelli admitted that “there is a challenge making sure that it runs the way it needs to on the Switch” because there was “high-fidelity stuff” going on. That would explain the recent PC system requirements with 8 GB of RAM and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 being recommended. We’ll see how all the console ports pan out in February 2020.

Until then, Darksiders Genesis is out on December 5th for PC and Google Stadia. It will have 11 stages and take roughly 15 hours to complete according to the developer.
