While its overall popularity has waned over the years, there was a period of time when Halo was a bona fide cultural phenomenon. It was probably at its zenith when Halo 2 released all the way back when on the original Xbox. While we gear up for the next entry in the series, Halo Infinite, which will launch with a new generation of Xbox, a fun blast from the past came in the form of an unfinished old cinematic from the series’ earlier days.
Marcus Lehto, co-creator of the Halo series, is hard at work at his new studio with their upcoming title, Disintegration. But it seems in the meantime he had a surprise digging through his attic, and actually found an old Halo 2 cinematic in a rough state. The cinematic is done with voice placeholders and is free of textures. It’s pretty wild to watch, especially since we don’t see things like this often. Check it out below.
Halo 2 can be played via The Master Chief Collection on the Xbox One now, and will eventually come to the PC version sometime in the future.
