The Nintendo Switch never fails to sell well, but the third quarter of the current fiscal year (running from October 2019 to December 2019) saw the system selling bonkers figures. With 10.81 million units sold in just those three months, the system’s lifetime sales now stand at over 52 million (surpassing the Xbox One’s lifetime shipments). And this stronger-than-expected performance has led to the company raising its sales forecasts for the fiscal year 2019-20.

Nintendo had previous expected to sell a total of 18 million Switch consoles throughout the entirety of the current fiscal year. But having now sold 17.74 million units already, with a quarter of the fiscal year still left, Nintendo has increased its sales forecast to 19.5 million units. In light of recent events, that seems perfectly manageable for the system.

Meanwhile, they’ve also increased their forecast for total software sales for the financial year. The previous quarter was a strong one for software sales as well, and having sold 123.3 million software units in the first three quarters, they’ve raised their forecasts from 125 million to 140 million units.

Meanwhile, Nintendo recently also boasted a significant boost in digital revenue. Read more on that through here.
