Final Fantasy 7 Remake Demo Uses Dynamic Resolution For Both Base PS4 And PS4 Pro

A somewhat disappointing analysis.

We’re just over a month away from the wildly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Square is in full marketing mode now, telling us all sorts of things, making some bold, bold promises about various aspects of the game, and even giving you a slight taste with a pretty tight little demo that you can download now. That download has, naturally, been examined, and the technical results may be a tad disappointing.

As analysed by VG Tech, a channel known for their tech savvy, both the base PS4 and the PS4 Pro are utilizing dynamic resolutions. The base system fluctuates between 1600×900 and 1920×1080, while the Pro sees resolutions between 2133×1200 and 2880×1620 when trying to output to full 2160p. On the flip side, the game does run well enough, rarely dipping below 30 frames per second. You can see the whole breakdown below.

It’s worth noting, of course, that this is just the demo, and things could change between now and the final release. While the game is gold, it’s not impossible this is based on an older build, and there could always be potential updates down the road. Either way, it doesn’t look bad, even if the resolution is a bit on the wonky side.
